We're Not Gone, Just Growing!
Hey friends,
If you’ve been wondering where we’ve been since mid-March, first let me say this: Thank you. Your patience, your kind messages, and your continued support mean more than you know. To me, you’re not just customers—you’re family. I’ve loved learning your names, hearing your stories, and watching you light up over that perfect vintage piece or a warm loaf of bread. That connection is what keeps this little shop’s heart beating.
Life threw us a few curveballs (or maybe a whole pile of them), but we’ve been far from idle. Here’s a peek behind the curtain at the Top 5 things we’ve been pouring our energy into while we prepare to reopen stronger than ever.
# 1. The Great Shop Migration
Turns out that “tiny shop” was secretly a magician. How one small space held THAT much inventory is still a mystery! We’ve been slowly moving everything out, and right now my backyard looks like a quirky flea market exploded. Some treasures have found new homes, some are safely tucked in storage, and the rest are being lovingly sorted and shuffled. It’s chaotic, dusty, and surprisingly emotional—but it’s also exciting. We’re making space for fresh energy and new ideas.
# 2. Tucker’s DIY Wedding Adventure
In the middle of all the moving chaos, our oldest son Tucker got married in April! What started as a short-planned wedding turned into an all-hands-on-deck labor of love. We laughed, we stressed, we nearly lost our minds… and it ended up being one of the most beautiful days our family has ever had. The couple keeps calling it the best day of their lives, which makes every late-night decoration session and last-minute scramble 100% worth it. Family first, always.
# 3. Downsizing (and the Lingering Mushrooms)
Moving Tucker and all his belongings was its own Olympic sport. None of us realized how much stuff had quietly accumulated over the years. We’re making solid progress, but let’s just say a few remnants are still hanging around—like his mushroom-growing hobby complete with bags of substrate. (If you see random mushroom experiments in my stories, you’ll know why!) Slowly but surely, we’re lightening the load and creating breathing room for what’s next.
# 4. A Joyful New Side Gig
While everything else was happening, I stepped into a wonderful, flexible side job that fits perfectly with shop life: Home staging! I get to work most mornings (usually 10am–1 or 2pm) with a fantastic group of women helping realtors and homeowners make their houses shine so they sell faster. It’s creative, fun, and surprisingly fulfilling. Bonus: it keeps my design muscles warm for the shop!
# 5. Coming Back to Bracken Village Market!
The good news? You don’t have to wait for the full reopening to see us. I’m thrilled to be joining the Bracken Village Market once a month!
Mark your calendars: Saturday, June 27th, 9:30am – 1:30pm.
I’ll be bringing those AMAZING cinnamon rolls and banana bread you love, plus fresh sourdough and my new obsession—the most delicious Italian Parmesan sandwich loaf (trust me, you’re going to want to try this one). I’ll also have the unique vintage decor you know and love, along with some beautiful handmade items my husband has been creating.
It’ll be like a mini pop-up reunion, and I can’t wait to catch up in person.

This season of transition has been full—full of family, growth, laughter, and yes, a little bit of backyard chaos. But through it all, I keep thinking of you. Your loyalty and kindness have carried us, and we’re working hard to come back better, brighter, and ready to serve you again.
In the meantime, come say hi at the market on the 27th. I’d love to hug you, hear how you’ve been, and maybe send you home with warm bread and a new treasure.
You’re the reason this shop exists. Thank you for being family.
See you soon,
Candes
